4. Adoption Donation

Adoption Donation Agreement
*
As a nonprofit organization, we must ask for adoption donations to be able to cover part of the required dogs’ expenses prior their adoption. A home visit and a binding contract will be required to adopt the animal. Please note we require adopters to be 25 years of age or older.
Adoption in United Kingdom
*
The total amount you should expect to pay for your adult (8+ months old) dog is £660 or £610 for a puppy (-8 months old). Including the adoption donation fee and transportation costs. The adoption donation helps us cover the spay / neuter of your new dog, current vaccinations, microchipping, IFAT and other blood tests of the animal.
Covering Fostering Transport Cost
*
Our organisation may organise fundraising initiatives to assist in covering the costs associated with transporting dogs to foster homes. This approach provides the dogs with greater opportunities for successful adoption. When adopting a dog that has been placed in a foster home, the adoption donation remains unchanged. This ensures that the funds collected can also be allocated towards other essential expenses, including but not limited to medical treatments exceeding the amount already included in the adoption donation, transportation to foster homes, boarding, food, training, and other necessary care-related costs.
Cost for UK
Adult Dog £200
(8+ months old) The amount contributes towards the preparation of your dog for travel to the UK. Includes spaying/neutering, Snap 4Dx which tests for exposure to pathogens that cause Heartworm disease, tests for Ehrlichiosis, Lyme disease and Anaplasmosis, and Leishmania snap test and IFAT test for the Leishmania rate. It also includes dog/puppy vaccines, rabies vaccine, microchip, worming treatment, tick and flea treatment, fit-to-fly examination and an EU-pet passport.
Puppy Dog £150
(-8 months old) The amount contributes towards the preparation of your puppy for travel to the UK. The same preparation takes place as for adults (minus neutering/spaying). There will be a requirement to have the dog spayed/neutered by your own vet, when it reaches the age recommended by your vet for doing so, at your expense.
Travel Costs to UK £460
Our dogs fly from Cyprus by our charter flight operated monthly to mainland Europe and are met there by out Pet Couriers who arrange a collection point with you. The travel cost includes the flight and onwards transport costs, Traces, Health Certificate (which are a requirement of the UK government and must be completed before any animal is imported into the UK) and Export & Import Tax. The cost of returning your dog’s travel crate to Cyprus are also included.
Adoption in Europe
*
The total amount you should expect to pay for your adult (8+ months old) dog is €550 or €490 for a puppy (-8 months old). Including the adoption donation fee and transportation costs. The adoption donation helps us cover the spay / neuter of your new dog, current vaccinations, microchipping, IFAT and other blood tests of the animal.

Travel Cost to Maastricht €330
Our dogs fly from Cyprus to mainland Europe by our charter flight operated monthly to Maastricht Netherlands. The travel cost includes the flight costs, Traces and the cost of returning your dog’s travel crate to Cyprus are also included. If further transport needed by a courier, then an additional cost will apply.
Adoption in Cyprus
*
The amount you should expect to pay for your dog is €220 total. The adoption donation contributes towards the expenses of spaying/neutering, Snap 4Dx tests for exposure to pathogens that cause Heartworm disease, tests for Ehrlichiosis, Lyme disease and Anaplasmosis, and Leishmania snap test and IFAT test for the Leishmania rate. It also includes dog/puppy vaccines, rabies vaccine, microchip, worming treatment, tick and flea treatment etc.
Reserving your dog:

The adoption donation will be requested after we receive and contact you about your Adoption Application, to reserve the dog. If your home-check is not approved, then the full amount will be refunded. If you change your mind after the home-check, the amount is not refundable.
Payment:
*
The remaining payment will be requested after notification of a successful home check. After the dog arrives to you none of the amount will be refundable for any reason.
Instalment Plan:
If you wish to request an instalment plan for the above mentioned fee, please discuss the details of the payment plan with the volunteer who responds to your application. Once an instalment plan is agreed upon, it is essential that you comply with the terms of the plan. No more than 3 instalments can be agreed and no less than the 2/3 of the total amount can be paid prior the arrival of the dog.

Adoption

Please be advised that completing the Adoption Application Form is not a guarantee of adoption and RIGHTS FOR ANIMALS RESCUE CYPRUS reserves the right to refuse any adoption that we feel will not suit the dog’s requirements or propose another dog which is more suitable.
Legal Pet Owner / Adopter
*
Adopters must be a minimum 25 years of age. For senior adopters we may proceed on the understanding that a family member will take the dog if you become unable to care for it and a written signed agreement may be asked from the family member. Families with young child under 6 years old are not eligible for adoption.
Homecheck
*
We aim to have your home check carried out by one of our experienced volunteers as soon as possible after receiving your Adoption Application Form – ideally within 2 weeks.
Care / Health
*
RIGHTS FOR ANIMALS FOUNDATION must give consent and authorisation for any of our adopted dogs to go under euthanasia. We must be notified of any issues regarding poor health as we have expert vets that work alongside our rescue who can assist for second opinions and treatments. WE WILL HELP WHERE WE CAN. We must be informed if your vet has given euthanasia as an option and do not condone this without consent, it can be a difficult time but we are here to help.

The adopter gives permission for the rescue to have access to the vet details/report/treatment at any time in the dogs life.
Medical Treatment
*
Rights For Animals Rescue Cyprus recommends that your dog is registered with a veterinarian and attends a check-up about one month after arrival. All of our dogs are thoroughly examined before travel and are blood tested for Ehrlichiosis, Anaplasmosis, Leishmania, and Lyme disease (conditions commonly found in Mediterranean countries). However, in a small number of cases, these diseases may remain dormant for several years without showing any clinical signs or symptoms. Brucella is a disease that does not occur in Cyprus; therefore, our standard adoption health package does not include a Brucella test. However, we are aware that some vets in the UK may request this test. We can arrange for it to be carried out if required. The cost of the test is £50, which must be covered by the adopter if requested.
If Dog Gets Ill
*
We request that should your dog become ill that you contact us. We are always here to support you, and our team and our Cyprus vets can often recognise the signs and symptoms of Mediterranean diseases much quicker than some UK vets as they have more experience of them. This can help a quick diagnosis and speedy recovery. Our rescue organization does everything reasonably practicable to ensure the health of your dog. However, as a living being we are unable to guarantee the health of your dog. If your animal becomes ill, you must be financially and emotionally prepared to treat your dog at your own expense.
Neuter / Spay
*
Most of our rescue dogs are neutered/spayed before flying, but on the occasion that they are too young for surgery, it is a compulsory condition of your adoption that at your expense you commit to neuter or spay your puppy once they are old enough and provide a vet’s WRITTEN CONFIRMATION that this has been undertaken. Failure to comply may result in removing the dog from your care. This will be part of our follow up checks. Puppies under the age of 8-12 months and subject to development, may not be neutered/spayed before travel, and we will advise on an individual basis.
Follow Up
*
Rights For Animals Rescue Cyprus will stay in touch with you and retain the right to also carry out a further visit to your home after the dog is placed, as a follow up check. We request that you keep us updated with any change to your contact details, including change of address.
Dog Removal
*
Rights For Animals Rescue Cyprus has the right to remove the dog from your care if your circumstances have changed to the degree that they no longer meet our adoption criteria and, as such, would fail any future follow up home checks. This decision is on the rescue’s jurisdiction.
Age / Breed
*
Rights For Animals Rescue Cyprus can not guarantee either the age or the breed/s of a dog.
Microchip
*
All of our dogs are microchipped prior to travel. It is a legal requirement that each dog be registered upon arrival in the UK. We initially register them under Rights for Animals Rescue. After the dog has been with you for a probationary period of three months, we will transfer the microchip into your name. The registration will also remain under Rights for Animals as a dual registration. The cost of this transfer is £20, which will be payable by the adopter at the time of registration.
Insurance
*
Please ensure that your dog is fully covered by pet insurance. Choosing not to take out pet insurance means that you accept full financial responsibility for any future medical needs, and that your dog’s care will not be restricted due to personal finances.
Settling In
*
We want your dog to settle into your home, but some do take longer than others, so please be patient. It is not right, dogs to be returned within a few days of adoption. You will not see the true character for possibly weeks to several months. Your dog needs time to get to know you and your home.
Behaviour
*
Our organization does not send aggressive dogs abroad. Our trainers work diligently to ensure that every dog traveling abroad has a friendly temperament. However, if a dog shows any signs of aggression after arrival at a foster or adopter’s home, we MUST BE INFORMED IMMEDIATELY. In such cases, our trainers and behaviorists will assess the situation and either provide guidance or decide to remove the dog as soon as possible. Please remember that even the friendliest dog may develop aggressive behaviors if placed in the wrong hands.
Mandatory Free Training Sessions
*
As part of the adoption process, we require all adopters to participate in two mandatory free of charge online sessions with our certified positive trainer who specializes in rescued dogs. The pre-arrival session must be completed prior to the dog's arrival to help ensure a smoother and faster transition for your dog into their new home. The post-arrival session is crucial and should occur within two weeks after your dog’s arrival to assess the adjustment process and offer support, ensuring a happy life between all.
Legal
*
The Adopter agrees to comply with all relevant regulations, legislation and laws concerning the welfare, control, responsible ownership and protection of animals including without limitation the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and Codes of Practice issued in England and Wales under the 2006 Act and to ensure that anyone with the temporary care of the animal also complies. This means providing for the animal’s health and wellbeing and taking measures to ensure that the animal’s health is maintained, he/she is properly housed, fed, watered, socialised and exercised and receives appropriate veterinary care, including vaccination, regular worming and flea treatment. The Adopter accepts that Rights For Animals Rescue Cyprus makes no representation or warranties, expressed or implied, about the dog’s temperament and, to the fullest extent permitted by law, accepts no liability for any loss or damage caused by the dog.
Return Of The Dog
*
Rights For Animals Rescue Cyprus must be informed at any time of a change in circumstances and the dog returned to one of our volunteers where required. Our dog must never be handed over to any other Rescue and of course it is not allowed to be sold or given to anyone else. We always accept the return of our dogs and will endeavour to rehome them accordingly.
Refund Policy
*
Unless the home-check is not approved, no amount paid will be refundable for any reason. Your understanding is highly appreciated as the expenses for the dog will be already paid in full and extra. As a non profit organization unfortunately this is not nagotiable.
Privacy Notice
*
Rights For Animals Rescue Cyprus takes your privacy seriously and we will only use your personal data in connection with your adoption application. We will never pass your information to any third party not connected to the process, and the details will not be used for marketing purposes of any third party. We may contact your vet to confirm neutering/vaccination/other medical details either about your current dog(s) or your adopted dog, both before and after adoption. We will use your personal information to: • process your adoption application and take a decision about the match between you and the dog you want to adopt. • process for your home check, your name, address and contact number will be given to our Home Check Team to allow the home check to be scheduled and carried out. • subject to successful adoption and after receipt of your adoption donation and transport costs, arrange for Pet Courier services; your name, address and contact number will be given to our Pet Courier to arrange a suitable collection point. • provide lifetime rescue backup for you and your dog. If you are successful in adopting a dog, your details will be held on file for the lifetime of the dog. Your Adoption Application Form will only be accessed by the team of Rights For Animals Rescue Cyprus for these purposes and it will be held securely both electronically and/or on hard copy. Adoption Application Declaration

I understand that by signing below I am declaring that I have read and understood the above terms and conditions and privacy notice and agree to the conditions if I proceed with an adoption. I certify by signing below that I am at least 25 years of age and the information I have given in my Adoption Application Form is true. I recognise that any misrepresentation of facts may result in my losing the privilege of adopting a dog or keeping the dog in the future if proven fault information. I understand that Rights For Animals Rescue Cyprus has the right to deny my application. Once the application will be approved then it is necessary to be signed a mutuarl agreement which will be the BINDING AGREEMENT of the adoption.
